Unspoilt, virtually free of crime and poverty
Located in the Western Caribbean Sea approximately 480 miles southwest of Miami and 180 miles south of Cuba, the Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory with a stable democratic government and British Governor. Unspoilt, virtually free of crime and poverty, this group of three islands offer one of the safest and highest standards of living in the entire Caribbean.
Over the last 30 years, government administrations have pursued policies aimed at developing the infrastructure, education, health and social services of the islands, fostering the stability that has proven to be a key factor in the continued growth of Cayman’s two main industries, tourism and financial services. Most privileged population in the world
Governed under British common law and widely known for the absence of direct taxation, the Caymanians have become one of the richest and, some say, most privileged populations in the world.
Short, convenient access to major international airports
With direct-flight access from the US (Miami is just a one-hour flight away) and European access increasing, visitor numbers continue to rise, with a growth of 5.2% in tourism seen during the first quarter of 2011. (Source: Cayman Islands Annual Economic Report) Thanks to the ongoing influx of tourist dollars, it’s no surprise that the Caymans have one of the strongest economies in the world.
Ideal place to live, work and conduct business
Assets such as its natural beauty, a stable, democratic government, supportive business environment, direct access to international markets, sound regulatory regime and a standard of living that compares very favourably to most cosmopolitan cities in the world make the Cayman Islands an ideal place to live, work and conduct business.
The Cayman Islands are comprised of Grand Cayman and – approximately eighty nine miles off the North Eastern end of Grand Cayman are the islands dubbed the "Sister Islands" of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Grand Cayman is the largest island at 76 square miles and Cayman Brac and Little Cayman have areas of 14 square miles and 10 square miles respectively.
“In Cayman… there is a pent-up demand for what is effectively a great product, Cayman is a great product, let’s not forget. We are in a civilized, still relatively safe, zero-tax jurisdiction with a great infrastructure.”
