2016 accolades roll in for the Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands continues to achieve honours and accolades through 2016. From top destination to best vacations, international media and travel organisations are recognising the Cayman Islands for its quality.

There are a number of awards to note from, U.S. News and World Report named the Cayman Islands as the Best Beach in the World. In the 2016-17 U.S. News Best Vacations rankings, the Cayman Islands rank fourth in the Best Places to Visit in the Caribbean.

Minister of Tourism Hon Moses Kirkconnell, said, “I am pleased that our country is being recognised for its quality and stellar tourism product.I feel confident that this is a direct result of our partners and the government working together in partnership to showcase the best we have to offer. Our islands offer unique experiences, outstanding culinary options and exceptional customer service. TripAdvisor’s Travelers Choice awards named the Cayman Islands as one of the top 10 islands in the Caribbean, top 10 destinations in the Caribbean, and in the top 25 beaches in the Caribbean. Seven Mile Beach won the awards for best beaches and destination. The TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice winners are based on the millions of reviews and opinions by travellers around the world, based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings for destinations on TripAdvisor gathered over a 12-month period.

While the Cayman Islands can boast of excellence in many areas, here are a few recognised in 2016: The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, Southern Cross Club, Caribbean Club and the Turtle Nest Inn. In addition, the Southern Cross Club won the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice award for Romance.

The Cayman Islands earnedsignificant recognition in the Scuba Diving Magazine – 2016 Top 100 Readers Choice Awards. The strong performance in the diving segment is a solid indication that the Cayman Islands is the top Caribbean island to enjoy the sport of scuba diving and water related adventures.
