2012 Air Arrivals revealed record breaking figures

The latest statistics for air arrivals in the Cayman Islands has revealed breaking records. They have revealed that as a result of successful marketing, the Cayman Islands air arrivals turned out to be the best on record since 2001. The air arrivals for 2012 turned out to be the best since 2001 with 321,650 passengers flying into the Cayman Islands. This represented a more than four per cent increase on 2011 which was also a great year for stay-over numbers. December 2012 was the best Christmas month since 2000 when more than 35,000 guests came to stay in Cayman a 6.2% increase on 2011.

With air-arrivals breaking records the new tourism minister welcome the release of the figures on Thursday and explained that Cayman has registered positive increases in stay over visitation for 32 out of the last 36 months and cumulatively speaking, this dramatic growth represents an increase of 17.3 percent over the past three years.

“I am pleased to extend my congratulations to all concerned in bringing about these outstanding results and I trust that every effort will be made to sustain this positive trajectory in 2013 he said at the weekly government press briefing.

He said the figures demonstrate that the Cayman Islands remains a sought after destination for families, divers, weddings and honeymoons and for those simply seeking sun, sea and sand.
