Cayman Islands Golf Courses

What’s more enticing than a Caribbean getaway where you can relax and sip on freshly made pina coladas? For lovers of golf, golf clubs and golf tournaments, a vacation that’s planned to enjoy the Cayman Islands golf courses is a dream come true. There are only three golf courses in the Cayman Islands but they are magnificent and spectacular and well worth the trip.

The Cayman Islands Golf Association was founded in 1993, just when the sport of golf was beginning to take firm root in the Cayman Islands. Its role is to regulate the sport of golf on the islands, organise tournaments and encourage the development of the sport. It supports youth participation through its junior programme.

The Britannia Golf Course has the honour of being the only golf course in the Caribbean that was sculpted by famed golfer Jack Nicklaus. Founded in 1985, the Britannia Golf Course is a wonderfully versatile course that is rumoured to feature the finest par-57 eighteen hole course in the Caribbean.

The first of the three Cayman Islands golf courses to be built, the course was designed to provide players with a challenging yet rewarding golfing experience. Some holes are designed to test players with blind tee spots, two-tiered greens and pot bunkers.

The breathtaking golf course incorporates the beauty of the seaside with the natural landscape. It is located on the island of Grand Cayman between North Sound and Seven Mile Beach on the lush grounds of the Grand Cayman Beach Suites.

Opening Hours

The golf course is open year round and is open daily. The golf shop’s opening hours are 7:30am – 5:00pm and tee time starts at 8:00am.

The North Sound Golf Club is the second of the three Cayman Islands golf courses. It was designed by architectural genius Roy Case and opened in 1994. The course has eighteen holes which are smartly juxtaposed with lush greenery and water features that include lakes, creeks, channels and of course the ocean.

The course presents some wind challenges which serve as a worthy test that can separate the novices from the experts. Caribbean trade winds along with the water, have been known to alter the course of several games and provide some difficulty in play.

This stunning golf course is located in the middle of Seven Mile Beach and offers unforgettable views of the ocean. The course features native plants and trees and is home to several local birds. Don’t be surprised if you see an iguana or ten sunbathing on the fairways and greens.

Opening Hours

The golf course is open year round and is open everyday except Christmas Day.

The private course was opened in 2006 and features a flat course that has nine holes – two par threes, two par fives and five long par fours.

All of the course’s holes except one have water in play. Golfers are guided through a course that is perfect for a relaxing game on a Caribbean getaway. It can also prove to be just what’s needed for a steady game consisting of multiple rounds on a one day outing.

This stellar golf course embraces the beauty of the Cayman Islands in its landscape. There is a saltwater lagoon, are water features, mangroves and cool, yet game changing trade winds. Its location on the popular Seven Mile Beach, makes it a favourite nine hole golf course in the Caribbean.
